While all Rec summer camps have been cancelled, there are a few organizations that are offering lacrosse camps this summer for those interested.
The Monroe Lacrosse Board has no affiliation with any of the camps listed below. We are providing this list for those who would like to improve their skills.
8th Annual NJLT Summer Lacrosse Camp
Colts Neck NJ – Bucks Mills Park
July 13th – July 16th, 2020
We are excited to announce the opening of registration for NJLT Summer Lacrosse Camp! Adjustments are being made to maintain social distancing guidelines, modifying drills, and changing the schedule with the safety of our campers and coaches as our top priority. Note: We will not be doing lunch at summer camp 2020. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us for more details.
We hope that everyone is doing well, staying safe, and making the best of this situation.
We want to give everyone an update on the current status of our 2020 spring lacrosse season. Unfortunately, this isn't the update that we were hoping to send.
Given the current situation it is unrealistic to believe that we will be playing lacrosse this April or May. Following recommendations from our leagues (boys- CJYLL and girls- JGLA) and US Lacrosse, along with guidance from the local, state, and federal governments , we have made the difficult decision to officially cancel our 2020 spring lacrosse season.
This is extremely disappointing for everyone involved but the safety of our players, coaches, and families is our main concern. It is out of an abundance of caution that we have made this difficult decision. Most spring leagues throughout the country have made this same decision. Even the summer club season is in question and will most likely be negatively impacted.
There are options being considered for a potential summer rec lacrosse season. Depending on interest, there could be a type of delayed season played sometime during the summer, if the situation has improved to the point where we are able to re-open the fields. This is very early in the planning stages but may be an option. It is just something to keep in mind when things start to improve. We will forward any updates and information as it becomes available.
We will begin working on processing refunds for both the boys 'and girls' programs this week. Unfortunately, the uniform (shorts & jersey) order for the boys had been processed so we weren't able to cancel that. The shooter shirt order was able to be put on hold so that cost will be refunded.
There are brighter days ahead. Be safe and stay well.
The Monroe Lacrosse Community lost a great supporter on Sunday with the passing of Anton Updale from complications due to a surgical procedure. Anton had three children play in the program. Anton Jr and Christian currently playing for the high school, Delilah playing for the sixth grade team. His wife Jen was a valued team mom for four years.
Anton coached the last four years for MLP applying his expertise in football to the lacrosse field. He loved the kids but pushed them and demanded the best out of his players to reach their full potential. The player loved Coach Updale because they knew he was tough on them because he cared. His coaching efforts and leadership skills on the football and lacrosse fields will bear fruit for many years to come. His players will not only demonstrate their athletic skills but apply the leadership qualities and how to overcome adversity in all phases of their life. Coach Updale’s presence and positive influences will be felt in many ways for quite a few years.
